I will start with an honest and personal statement.
I am not sure I like retreats. So why am I offering one? Why attend a business retreat?
Logical, hard hitting, checklists that is the kind of things I am comfortable with in my business. I can push through that all day long. The idea of a ‘retreat’ makes me feel vulnerable. I do not like that.
Having worked with entrepreneurs, business owners and professionals for many years I can honestly say the #1 thing limiting their success is, themselves. Even the best and the brightest. Actually especially the best and the brightest. They know the logical, hard hitting, checklist kind of things to do and yet they also realize there is so much more they could be doing if only…
To reach new levels of success by digging deeper into who you are.
We all make excuses for where our business is at.
- Things are good, I cannot expect great
- The economy – politics – competition – weather – are in my way
- I don’t have the time
- I don’t know how
- Insert your ‘reason’ here
“Good is the enemy of Great… Few people attain great lives, in large part because it is just so easy to settle for a good life.” James Collins author of Good To Great
Is good enough, really good enough for you?
I decided years ago that I never want to look back on my life and wonder, “What if…” What if I did this or did not do that, what if I tried one more time, or took one more step. For me is about making smart choices and being willing to try new things. And yes when necessary to be vulnerable even with myself.
A business retreat is an opportunity to initiate, allow, and encourage a paradigm shift in yourself so that you can make the shift in your business. It is a chance to learn something new, meet great people, step away from the daily chaos of life and business, to get a fresh perspective on what I want and how to achieve that.
There is a lot to do as an entrepreneur, small business owner, professional salesperson, corporate executive, etc. A weekend away from the chaos can relieve some of the stress and noise that hold you back.
Because, let’s be honest here, most of us know that what is really holding us back is, well, it is ourselves.
So why attend a business retreat? Have fun, relax, learn something new, meet great people and mostly because you deserve it, and your business needs it.
